3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Elias Lindholm

It appears the writing is on the wall and Elias Lindholm will be leaving the Vancouver Canucks and testing free agency. Vancouver has reportedly turned their attention away from re-signing the Swedish centre to bringing in Jake Guentzel from the Carolina Hurricanes.

As for Lindholm, he's going to cash in this summer, maybe not as much as he'd like after a down season, but there's no doubt he'll be able to secure a long-term contract this summer. Here's three potential destinations for one of the most talented free-agent forwards this offseason:

Boston Bruins

The Bruins tried to trade for Lindholm while he was a member of the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks this past season and will continue to be interested this summer. Boston has a massive hole down the middle and desperately need centre depth. Lindholm fits the bill and could line up perfectly with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. The Bruins have $21.2 million in cap space and will certainly be making a substantial offer.

Nashville Predators

The Preds are looking for a more balanced approach up front and Lindholm could slide in perfectly behind Ryan O'Reilly down the middle. Nashville has tons of cap space to work with and a newfound sense of belonging after they shattered expectations in 2023-24. Lindholm 44 points last season, which was a down year, however has shown in the past he's capable of producing a point-a-game and be defensively sound. Music to the ears of the Smashville faithful.

San Jose Sharks

A dark horse in the free-agent market are the San Jose Sharks. They have tons of cap space and #1 pick Macklin Celebrini being added to an already talented prospect pool. Lindholm could step in, play hockey in sunny California, in a quiet market and make an impact as a mentor and a leader. Keep an eye on the Sharks not only on Lindholm, but several other veteran free agents this summer.
