PK Subban RIPS Maple Leafs Player For "Disgusting" Hit On Laine: "Where is the Respect?!"
Minor league journeyman Cedric Pare is a Toronto Maple Leaf, at least for training camp, and he certainly made a name for himself Saturday night, in the worst way. His knee-on-knee hit on the Montreal Canadiens' Patrik Laine was not a pretty play, and Pare paid the price afterwards by taking a pounding from Arber Xhekaj.
Now, he's hearing about it from former Canadiens' star PK Subban, who has ripped Pare for his "irresponsible" actions.
WHERE HAS THE RESPECT GONE IN HOCKEY???

"What the hell was that last night?!," began Subban. "You stick your knee out on a superstar? Irresponsible, I don't like it, this wasn't a battle in the corner. This is open ice, penalty kill, preseason folks. Patrik Laine deserves a lot more respect than the way he was treated last night, and that should have never happened.
"Where is the respect for Patrik Laine? Where is the respect for NHL superstars?... I'm not talking about babying the superstars... But we gotta respect 'em. There can't be any cheap shots on our superstars. I'm sorry.
"Cedric Pare, I didn’t go to the game last night to watch him play. I paid admission to go watch Patrik Laine play.
"It should have never happened. It was disgusting."
And as scathing as that was from Subban, Pare is likely feeling the response of Habs enforcer Xhekaj even more today, after this beating:

Xhekaj racked up 27 minutes in penalties from the fracas while Pare was spared even a single minute in the sin bin.
A 25-year-old former 6th-round pick, Pare has never played a game in the NHL, spending all of his past four seasons after coming out of junior in the AHL and ECHL. He'll likely be back in the AHL when the season begins.
We're all hoping for the best for Laine, who was excited about trying to come back in a new situation this season after a lost year (three years, really) in Columbus.
