3 Potential Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs' David Kampf

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team to watch heading into the March 7 trade deadline. GM Brad Treliving is going to try and upgrade his forward group, in the market for a middle-six center, meanwhile expect to see Toronto's exec also upgrading his blueline.

The Leafs have a number of trade candidates who could be moved off their roster, including defensive center David Kampf. Kampf is signed for $2.4 million AAV for two more seasons, and this year, holds a 10-team no-trade list. Here's three teams Kampf may end up on:

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are still open for business and are looking to add some depth to their forward group. Kampf can slide into either the 4C, or 3C role, and is an above-average penalty killer. Kampf's also chipped in with seven points in 39 games, and his ability to be a shut-down pivot could certainly appeal to Patrik Allvin, and especially head coach Rick Tocchet.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avs are in need of some more depth among their bottom six, as they've been very active already this season, with GM Chris MacFarland making a slew of bold moves. Colorado has room to add Kampf's money, plus they can slot him in down the middle of their bottom six, and add a PK specialist. If these two teams pull off a trade, look for a depth defenseman to be going back the other way.

Minnesota Wild

Kampf's right up the Wild's alley, and with Hartman suspended for 10 games and a number of injuries up front in Minnesota, perhaps a deal comes sooner than later. Kampf fits the Wild's game, and could easily transition his two-way game into the bottom portion of Minnesota's lineup, meanwhile, the Leafs have shown interest in Declan Chisholm in the past, so perhaps there's a deal to be struck here.
