3 Free Agent Additions Anaheim Ducks Can Make
The Anaheim Ducks are likely going to improve again and could even sneak into the playoffs with the help of their new coach Joel Quenneville. Even with the growth of many of their younger players, the team is going to need some additions, so here are some good options for the bottom-6 that should be available to target.
Christian Dvorak
The Ducks could use a fourth line center and I think that Christian Dvorak would be great for that role. He should have arguably been playing lower for the past couple of seasons in Montreal, but injuries and lack of great depth kept him on the third line. With Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, and Ryan Strome as the top three centermen, Dvorak could comfortably outmatch other fourth lines after he is used to being outmatched himself. He isn't a bad player as he scored 12 goals and 33 points, but needs a reduced role.
Jeff Skinner
The Ducks need some scoring and Jeff Skinner should be able to provide that. He just wasn't a fit in Edmonton as there was too much depth this season and he wasn't slotted beside the centers he could have performed better with. Though Skinner scored 16 goals and 29 points in 72 games this season, he put up 24 goals last season and 35 goals and 82 points the season prior. He still has game and could fit nicely on a skilled third line.
Andrew Mangiapane
Andrew Mangiapane had a good season in Washington even though he didn't put up 35 goals like he did in 2021-22. A team can expect mid to high teens in goals from the 28-year-old, but since he has experience in the top-6, could be an injury replacement or an option to move up and play with different players throughout the season. The Ducks have a lot of money and could use an extra million or so to bring in Mangiapane for the bottom-6 where he's comfortable with now.
