Blue Jackets' First Round Draft Picks 100% Available

Columbus Blue Jackets
The Columbus Blue Jackets are all about improving right now as they made a nice jump this season with their young team. The team has two first-round picks in the 2025 draft, and when asked if they would both be available in the right trade, he said, "Yes. 100%."

The Blue Jackets have a good young core with Adam Fantilli, Kirill Marchenko, Kent Johnson, Dmitri Voronkov, Cole Sillinger, Yegor Chinakhov, Zach Werenski, and Denton Mateychuk, plus some solid veterans. But this is the right time to take the next steps into the playoffs and compete. The window is just about to open up, but by using one or both of the first-round picks, it could be right now.

I expect everyone mentioned above to have better seasons as they get older, but even though it is great to build through the draft, Columbus is going to need a little help from the outside. The Blue Jackets own their own 2025 first-round draft pick and the Minnesota Wild's. The Wild were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs and their pick should be at 20.

There'll be players that come available closer to the draft as contract talks may not work out. Then there could also be trades other teams make that make different players available as well. Some trade targets for Columbus may already be revealed, but what the team has in store may surprise us as well.

If there are too many first-round picks available this season, it could cause a problem for the Blue Jackets as the picks they have will be more difficult to move.
