Blues Rumors: St. Louis Could Revisit Brayden Schenn Trade Talks

St. Louis Blues Captain Brayden Schenn celebrates after scoring goal in 2025 game.

After a crushing Game 7 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, the St. Louis Blues face a crucial offseason—and team captain Brayden Schenn might be at the center of it.

The 33-year-old veteran, who helped lead the Blues back to the playoffs, could be a trade candidate this summer, according to Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic.

Could a Schenn Trade Happen This Summer?

At the trade deadline, both the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly showed interest in Schenn, but the Blues captain made it clear he wanted to stay in St. Louis.

He ended the year with 50 points and anchored a red-hot Blues team that surged into the postseason. Still, things could change quickly: on July 1, Schenn’s full no-trade clause becomes a 15-team modified list, giving GM Doug Armstrong more flexibility if a deal materializes.

Schenn's leadership and physical play were crucial in the team's 19-4-3 finish, but with three years remaining on his $6.5 million AAV contract and a rising salary cap ahead, the Blues may consider moving him to free up space or to retool around younger talent.

The Blues’ Bigger Picture

Schenn isn't the only player whose name is swirling in trade talk. Forward Jordan Kyrou could also be on the move, and several key roster decisions—including extensions for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg—loom large. While Schenn's desire to stay has been evident, Armstrong must weigh that loyalty against a roster that might need reshaping to stay competitive.

Whether the Blues re-engage Schenn in trade discussions or keep their captain for another season, one thing is clear: change is on the table in St. Louis.
