NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Daniel Vladar

The Calgary Flames are expected to make several roster changes this summer, which will likely include finding a new backup for goaltender of the future, Dustin Wolf. Daniel Vladar has been in Calgary since 2021-22, and Conroy is likely to elect to move on from the towering netminder this offseason.

Here's three teams to keep an eye on as free-agent destinations for Vladar, who went 12-11-6 last season, with a 2.80 goals against average:

New Jersey Devils

Jake Allen hits the free-agent market this summer, and if the Devils don't feel Nico Daws is ready for what could be a workload around 35-40 games next season, they could bring in a veteran to backup Jakob Markstrom. Vladar would come on the cheap, and is someone with over 100 games of NHL experience. He's also familiar with Markstrom, which goes a long way for goaltending tandems.

Ottawa Senators

Linus Ullmark needs a backup next season and Vladar could be perfect for the role. He wouldn't have a ton of opportunity to take over as the starter, as Ullmark is one of the best in the league, but he could fit in comfortably as an experienced low-maintenance backup netminder. Vladar will be on the Senators radar this summer.

Edmonton Oilers

It will be curious to see what the Oilers do this offseason with their crease, but if they decide to make a change, Vladar is the type of free-agent who they will target. Will be short-term deal, on the cheap, and is someone the team is familiar with. Stuart Skinner has improved throughout the playoffs, so while the Oilers could be an option, everything is riding on how far Skinner can take them this spring.
