Penguins Rumors: 3 Potential Offseason Suitors For Rickard Rakell

Rickard Rakell, Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rickard Rakell generated plenty of interest leading up to the 2025 NHL trade deadline, but the Metropolitan Division club elected not to trade him. While this is the case, they are likely to listen to offers for him again this summer while his trade value is high.

Because of this, let's go over three teams who could look to acquire him this offseason now.

Los Angeles Kings

Rakell stands out as a prime target for the Kings. They need a top-six right winger badly, and bringing in a veteran like Rakell would give them that. He could slot perfectly on their second line with Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield and would also provide their power play with a notable upgrade.

Detroit Red Wings

After another tough season, the expectation is that the Red Wings will have themselves a busy summer. They could use another top-six forward, and it would not be surprising if they made a major push for Rakell because of it. This is especially so when noting that he is signed until the end of the 2027-28 season, meaning he would be more than a rental for Detroit.

Vancouver Canucks

If the Canucks lose pending unrestricted free agent Brock Boeser this summer, Rakell could be a strong replacement for him. He would give them another legitimate top-six winger to work with, which certainly would be good for a Canucks team looking to get back into the playoffs next year.
