Ducks Rumors: Who's Staying & Who's Going This Summer in Anaheim?

Anaheim Ducks forward Mason McTavish celebrates goal during 2025 game.

With another transition year on the books, the Anaheim Ducks are entering the offseason with clarity about their core and several looming decisions on their roster.

According to Eric Stephens of The Athletic, the Ducks are settling on a foundational group while preparing to say goodbye to a few familiar names, setting the tone for GM Pat Verbeek’s vision going forward.

Core Players to Stay in Anaheim

Stephens reports that Trevor Zegras and Leo Carlsson are firmly in Anaheim’s long-term plans, despite trade buzz surrounding Zegras earlier this year. Carlsson, as expected, is seen as untouchable, and Zegras’s recent struggles haven’t swayed the Ducks from believing in his upside. Mason McTavish, Jackson LaCombe, Olen Zellweger, and Pavel Mintyukov are also considered key parts of the rebuild, and the team sees Tristan Luneau as a breakout candidate for next season.

Trade Watch: Who Could Be Leaving?

On the trade front, Anaheim is fielding interest in players like Frank Vatrano, who had a career-best season and could fetch a solid return.

Meanwhile, John Gibson’s status remains uncertain. Stephens notes that his trade value is hard to assess given his recent inconsistency, but the Ducks remain open to moving him if the right deal surfaces.

Anaheim is expected to be active in changing its roster, not necessarily through splashy free-agent signings, but by giving younger players bigger roles and exploring strategic trades.

That being said, the Ducks have been heavily linked to Mitch Marner in this summer's free agency.
