NHL Free Agency: 3 Teams Who Could Sign Jonathan Drouin This Offseason

Jonathan Drouin has had an up-and-down career to this point, as the once highly touted prospect is now 30 years old and hitting the free-agent market on July 1. Drouin is coming off a solid season, when healthy, recording 11 goals and 37 points in 43 games last year with the Colorado Avalanche

The Avs may not have interest giving Drouin a multi-year contract, and with limited cap space, could be looking to revamp their top six without the playmaking winger. There's going to be lots of interest on the open market, here's three teams to keep an eye on once free agency opens up July 1st:

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens exceeded expectations last year and have turned into an up-and-coming team to watch heading into the 2025-26 season. Drouin making his way to Montreal would be quite the story, and he'd fit in nicely as a veteran winger who could help boost their lineup offensively. The Habs should be aggressive this summer on the free-agent market, and adding Drouin should be something they consider.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets have a number of roster decisions to make this summer as Nik Ehlers could be pricing himself off the roster. If he does so, Drouin could be a nice fallback option for GM Kevin Cheveldayoff, as he'd come in at a cheaper cap hit, and a much shorter contract term.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings always seem to run into the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and while their defensive game is very strong, they don't have enough offense to outscore them. Look for the Kings to add up front and add some scoring, and playmaking prowess. Drouin would be a great addition in LA, and they'll certainly be an attractive option for Drouin, and many other free agents.
