NHL Free Agency: 4 Teams Who Could Sign Patrick Kane This Offseason
Patrick Kane would like to win another Stanley Cup, and if the Detroit Red Wings don't make some significant moves this offseason, Kane could be looking to sign with a contender.
Kane's a pending unrestricted free agent, and even at 36 years old, there's going to be a ton of interest in his services. The veteran winger recorded 21 goals and 59 points in 72 games last season with the Red Wings, and will be looking for a one, or two-year contract on the open market. A third year could be a selling point for onlooking teams, and here's who could be very interested once free agency hits July 1st:
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs have had interest before and are looking to change their DNA this offseason. Adding a winner in Kane could go a long way to getting this team over the hump, and considering how stale their offense went in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, adding Kane could be the perfect addition to help change the makeup of their roster.
Florida Panthers
If Brad Marchand ends up pricing himself out of Florida this summer, Cup or not, look for the Panthers to have a ton of interest in Kane, who will come in at a much lower AAV. The Panthers have some major decisions to make with Aaron Ekblad, Marchand, and Sam Bennett, but if Marchand does leave, there will be enough money to re-sign Ekblad, and Bennett, while adding Kane.
Winnipeg Jets
This one is 100% linked to Jonathan Toews, as the Jets appear to be the frontrunner at the moment, and Kane could be looking to reunite with his former Chicago Blackhawks' teammate. Nik Ehlers is going to hit the open market and could very well sign elsewhere, which could open up a left-wing spot among the Jets' top six for Kane to occupy.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings need more scoring and Kane could be exactly what the doctor ordered. They have cap space to spend, they have a winning team looking to make the next step, and playing hockey in LA to finish off his career, could be the perfect send off for the future hall of famer.
