NHL Free Agency: 5 Teams Who Could Sign Brock Boeser This Offseason

The NHL's free agency period begins July 1 and one forward to keep an eye on is winger Brock Boeser. The Vancouver Canucks appear set to let Boeser test the market, which is likely going to result in Boeser wearing a new jersey next season.

Boeser, 28, finished last season with 25 goals and 50 points in 75 games. He's a proven goal scorer who immediately boosts any team's top two lines. Yes, he's a touch one-dimensional as he doesn't kill penalties or play down the middle of the ice, but Boeser can light the lamp in a hurry, scoring 40 in 2023-24.

Here's five teams who will be pushing to sign Boeser:

Carolina Hurricanes

Easy pick here. The Hurricanes have loads of cap space to work with this summer and GM Eric Tulsky will be looking for game-breaking forwards. Boeser would give the 'Canes a nice complement to Seth Jarvis on the right side of their top six, and could be the type of addition to push Carolina over the hump next season.

Toronto Maple Leafs

If Mitch Marner leaves, the Maple Leafs will be searching for some offence from right wing and Boeser could be a nice add for their second line, allowing for William Nylander to move up to the first line alongside Matthew Knies and Auston Matthews. If Marner stays, the Leafs won't have the cap space to make a deal work.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings want more offence this summer and will be in on Boeser, and many others. With a strong team, a young up-and-coming core, and solid goaltending, along with sunny California, the Kings will be a strong contending to sign some big names this summer. They have $21.7 million in cap space, so there's room for a couple of big additions this offseason.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild finally have cap space to work with after years of dealing with dead space thanks to buying out Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. Boeser is a Minny native, and he's someone who is very familiar to GM Bill Guerin via the USA Hockey space. The Wild tried to acquire Boeser in the past, so expect to see them become a heavy hitter on him early on in free agency.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins are a bit of a wild card here as nobody truly knows where Kyle Dubas' head space is at. The Pens want to get younger, faster, and tougher to play against, and Boeser checks off a couple of those boxes. Pittsburgh could use more secondary scoring behind Crosby and Rakell, so Boeser would give them that in spades, plus be a core piece moving forward once Malkin and Crosby move on from the game.
