With O'Connor's estimated recovery timeline being five to six months, the earliest he is expected to be ready to return to action is November. Due to this, the 28-year-old forward will be out for the beginning stages of the 2025-26 season, unless he recovers quicker than expected.
This is certainly tough news for the Avalanche, as O'Connor is a solid part of their forward group. In 80 games this season with the Avalanche, he posted 10 goals, 21 points, 68 hits, and a minus-4 rating. With numbers like these, he gave the Avalanche decent secondary offensive production in 2023-24.
O'Connor has spent each of the last seven seasons with the Avalanche, where he has recorded 45 goals, 58 assists, 103 points, 397 hits, and a plus-34 rating in 343 games played. Overall, he has been a solid part of their roster for awhile now, so they will naturally be hoping that all goes smoothly with his recovery from here.
