Kane, 36, was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent (UFA) on July 1. However, after landing this one-year deal with the Red Wings, he will be staying in Detroit as they look to take that next spte and become a playoff team again.
Kane appeared in 72 games this past season with the Red Wings, where he posted 21 goals, 38 assists, and 59 points. This was after No. 88 recorded 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games with the Red Wings during the 2023-24 season.
It was no secret that both the Red Wings and Kane were hoping to get a new deal done, and now that has come to fruition. Kane should continue to be a big part of the Red Wings' top six and power play next season because of it.
In 1,302 career NHL games over 18 seasons split between the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and Red Wings, Kane has recorded 492 goals, 851 assists, and 1,343 points. It will be fascinating to see what kind of season he puts together with the Red Wings in 2025-26 from here.
