NHL News: LA Kings Re-Sign Andrei Kuzmenko With Low-Risk Deal
With the start of free agency being just about here, the Los Angeles Kings have made a last-minute signing.
The Kings have announced that they have re-signed Andrei Kuzmenko to a one-year, $4.3 million contract for the 2025-26 season.
Seeing the Kings re-sign Kuzmenko is not surprising in the slightest. After being acquired by the Kings from the Philadelphia Flyers at the trade deadline, Kuzmenko undoubtedly fit in nicely with Los Angeles. In 22 regular-season games with the Kings following the move, he posted five goals, 17 points, and a plus-6 rating. He also had three goals and six points in six playoff games with the Kings.
It is no secret that the Kings need help on the wing, and losing Kuzmenko would have only made that more of the case. Thus, there is very little harm in the Kings re-signing him to this new contract. It is only for one year, and Kuzmenko's $4.3 million cap hit is not outrageous. This is especially so if the skilled winger continues to produce well with the Kings next season.
In 219 career NHL games over three seasons split between the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Flyers, and Kings, Kuzmenko has recorded 72 goals, 85 assists, and 157 points. It will be intriguing to see how he improves upon these career stats with the Kings during the 2025-26 campaign from here.
