It was no secret that Primeau was in need of a change of scenery, and now he has gotten just that with the Hurricanes. Now, the 25-year-old will provide the Hurricanes with a bit more goalie depth, which was undoubtedly a notable need for them this summer.
Primeau appeared in 11 games this season with the Canadiens, where he posted a 2-3-1 record, a .836 save percentage, and a 4.70 goals-against average. Primeau also made 26 starts for the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, where he had a 21-2-2 record, a .927 save percentage, and a 1.96 goals-against average.
Given how amazingly Primeau played in the AHL after being demoted by the Canadiens in December, it makes sense that the Hurricanes are taking a chance on. He certainly showed promise down in the AHL with Laval and will now look to build off it with the Hurricanes organization from here.
In 55 career NHL games over six seasons with the Canadiens, Primeau has recorded a 13-24-7 record, a .884 save percentage, and a 3.69 goals-against average.
