Rempe, 22, appeared in a career-high 42 games this season with the Rangers, where he posted three goals, eight points, 67 penalty minutes, and 117 hits. This was after he had one goal, one assist, and 71 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Rangers during the 2023-24 season.
Rempe also played in 18 games this season with the Rangers' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he posted three goals, two assists, 22 penalty minutes, and a minus-3 rating.
It is not particularly surprising to see that the Rangers are keeping Rempe around. The 6-foot-9 forward provides plenty of size and toughness in the Rangers' bottom six, and he is still young enough where he still could hit a new level.
Rempe was selected by the Rangers with the 165th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In 59 career NHL games with the Rangers over two seasons, the Calgary, Alberta native has recorded four goals, six assists, 10 points, 138 penalty minutes, and a plus-8 rating. It will be interesting to see how much he improves upon these career stats after landing this new contract from the Blueshirts.
