NHL News: Senators Acquire Jordan Spence From Kings

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Ottawa Senators have acquired defenseman Jordan Spence from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for the 67th pick of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Spence had been a popular name in the rumor mill this offseason, and now he has officially found his new home with the Senators. The Senators were one of the clubs heavily linked to Spence, and they have now won the sweepstakes for his services.

It was no secret that the Senators needed help on the right side of their blue line, and now they have gotten just that with Spence. When looking at their roster, Spence should have a real shot of playing in their top four and also receiving power play time.

Spence, 24, appeared in 79 games this past season with the Kings, where he recorded new career highs with four goals, 24 assists, 28 points, and a plus-23 rating in 79 games. Overall, the 2019 fourth-round pick had a solid 2024-25 season and will now look to build on it with the Senators next season from here.

Overall, this is a low-risk move for the Senators. They are bringing in a young defenseman with good upside, and it will be intriguing to see if he can hit a new level in Ottawa from here. The Kings, on the other hand, have landed themselves some picks and a bit more cap space to work with by dealing Spence.
