NHL News: John Gibson Finally Traded By Anaheim Ducks

After years of being in the rumor mill, John Gibson's time with the Anaheim Ducks is finally coming to a close.

The Ducks have traded Gibson to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for goalie Petr Mrazek, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

It was no secret that the Red Wings desperately needed to improve between the pipes, so it is significant that they have landed Gibson. With this, Gibson will now be their new starting goalie as they look to finally snap their playoff drought in 2025-26.

Gibson appeared in 29 games this season with the Ducks, where he had an 11-11-2 record, a 2.77 goals-against average, and a .911 save percentage. Overall, it was a much-needed bounce-back season from the veteran goaltender, and he will now look to build off it next season for the Red Wings.

It is no secret that Gibson has been in need of a change of scenery for quite some time now. Now, he is getting a fresh start with the Red Wings and will look to help them finally take that next step in 2025-26.

In 506 career games over 12 seasons as a Duck, Gibson had a 204-217-63 record, a .910 save percentage, and a 2.89 goals-against average.
