Breaking NHL News: Blues Make Decision on Goalie Joel Hofer
As a pending restricted free agent, he was starting to become a trade and/or offer sheet candidate as several teams around the NHL are scrambling for some goaltending help. But St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong had said recently that Joel Hofer wasn't going anywhere. And he stuck to that promise, signing Hofer to a two-year, $6.8 million contract ($3.4M AAV).

The St. Louis Blues' X account made a specific point to rival teams to put their offer sheets away, as Hofer will be staying put.

Hofer had another strong year as the backup to Jordan Binnington, recording a 16-8-3 record with a .904 save percentage and a 2.64 goals against average, following up his rookie year .913 Sv% last year. In fact, his .909 save percentage over the past two seasons combined is good for eighth amongst all NHL goaltenders with a minimum 60 games played.
He'll be an RFA again in 2027 at the end of this deal, at the still young age of 26.
Jake Allen, Anton Forsberg and Alexandar Georgiev are the 'top' UFA goalies, leaving the market pretty thin after Hofer, an RFA was taken off the board.
