NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations for Stars' Jason Robertson

The Dallas Stars are reportedly taking trade offers on one of the best scorers, Jason Robertson.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reports Stars GM Jim Nill is listening to trade calls, however, aren't actively shopping the star winger. Robertson is entering the final season of his contract at $7.75 million AAV, and he's set to become a restricted free agent after next season.

The Stars moved Mason Marchment for essentially nothing to the Seattle Kraken, which freed up some cap space for next year, but then Nill re-signed Matt Duchene to a multi-year deal, which basically washed the money.

Robertson had 35 goals and 45 assists in 82 games last year, and added another six points in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games. As far as destinations go, here's three teams to keep an eye on:

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Jackets are trying to do something big on the trade market and are using one of their first-round picks at next week's NHL Draft to try and lure other teams. GM Don Waddell has $40 million in cap space to work with, and is looking for a game-breaking top-line player to add to his team, so reaching Nill's asking price could certainly be in the picture these next couple of weeks.

Utah Mammoth

The Mammoth need a star to market and help build their team around and at 25 years old, Robertson could be perfect for their franchise. The Mammoth have boat loads of cap space, draft capital, and young talent, so keep an eye on these two teams, as they've most certainly be in touch in trade talks.

Ottawa Senators

The Sens are looking to get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season and want to win a series. Adding Robertson moves the needle for them offensively, and they were the first team linked to the Stars winger once news dropped Robertson could be available.
