NHL Trade Rumors: Jordan Kyrou Linked to Blues' Western Conf. Rival
St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou has been soaring up the trade boards this offseason, and while some have doubted that the Blues would trade their perennial 30-goal star, the rumors just won't go away.
The latest comes to us from a couple of sources, including insider Marco D'Amico in rg.org, who writes that Kyrou's name is 'still circulating.'
One storyline that refuses to die down is the future of Jordan Kyrou in St. Louis. League executives and scouts told RG Media that Kyrou’s name continues to come up in trade conversations. There’s legitimate interest across the league in the dynamic winger, who posted impressive numbers last season.
The Seattle Kraken are a team to watch for Jordan Kyrou
In addition, fellow insider Elliotte Friedman said on his 32 Thoughts podcast on Sunday that the Seattle Kraken are a team to watch on Kyrou, with their depth down the middle.
You heard (Blues GM) Doug Armstrong say that if there's a center available, that he would consider (trading Kyrou.) I'll say this: one of the teams I wonder about for Kyrou is Seattle. And I don't know if it's over because it happened at the draft, but Seattle has a lot of centers, and that's the kind of player I can see Seattle being interested in... I think there was some talk about it before the draft and, I don't know if it's still alive, but that was something else I heard about.
Just before the draft, the Kraken traded for veteran center Frederick Gaudreau, then added further to their stockpile down the middle of the ice by drafting Jake O’Brien of the Brantford Bulldogs with the 8th overall pick. O'Brien racked up 98 points in just 68 OHL games this past season.
Those two are in line behind Matty Beniers, Chandler Stephenson and Shane Wright (4th overall pick in the 2022 Draft) on the Seattle center depth chart.
Moving one of them for Kyrou would add a proven 30-goal sniper to their forward unit. The Blues' seven-year veteran potted another 36 goals this past season with 70 points. He now has 104 goals over the past three seasons. He has six years remaining on his eight-year deal at an $8.125 million cap hit.
