Penguins' Kyle Dubas Squashes Wild Sidney Crosby Trade Rumors
The Sidney Crosby to Colorado trade rumors were running wild at the NHL Draft in Los Angeles on Friday night, and Pittsburgh Penguins president Kyle Dubas had seen enough.
Dubas saw the rumors flying around just like everyone else in the hockey world, and decided to make a rare comment on Crosby trade talks. "There's no change at all to anything from our perspective," Penguins president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas said, according to NHL.com's Wes Crosby. "Everything that we're doing is about bringing the team back to being a contending team and our hope is to sure do that while Sid is a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins."
Pat Brisson, agent for Sidney Crosby, told me just now in text message that speculation about Crosby leaving Penguins are “baseless rumors.”

Even Nathan MacKinnon got involved, as he was seeing all the Instagram posts being made about it and was leaving 'fake news' comments, to do his part to squash the rumors. Despite MacKinnon being Crosby's best friend, and someone who admires Sid the most, MacKinnon wasn't a big fan of seeing Crosby's name dragged through the media all night on Friday.
Crosby is entering the first season of a two-year contract extension, which includes a full no-movement clause. He's mentioned numerous times he'd like to finish his career in Pittsburgh, and for all those people wanting to see him and MacKinnon on the ice again together, they'll have to wait until the Olympics.
Crosby scored 91 points in 80 games last season, and Dubas is doing his best to upgrade his roster, while making them younger and more focused on the future, which is no easy task.
