Utah Mammoth Could Make Big Move At The 2025 Draft

Utah Mammoth
The Utah Mammoth won the fourth overall pick in the 2025 draft, and that holds a lot of value. There appears to be multiple teams looking at potentially moving their first round pick this year, but according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Mammoth are looking for a young, top-6 forward in return for their pick.

The fourth overall pick could fetch Utah a pretty good player and there could be someone who is having trouble getting an extension done or a young forward who just needs a change in scenery. The first place to look at potential targets may be on the RFA list. Many will sign with their current teams, some may be offer sheeted, but if the Mammoth dangle the fourth overall pick, it could be enticing rather than losing him their player for a lot less.

As it stands right now, the Mammoth's top-6 may include Clayton Keller, Logan Cooley, Dylan Guenther, Nick Schmaltz, Barrett Hayton, and Josh Doan.

Doan could definitely be moved down a line and replace Matias Maccelli on the third line to get a top-6 player in there. Utah is one of the youngest teams and their young talent is very good. Just a couple of young players I would watch for is JJ Peterka and Marco Rossi as they are both reportedly on the trading block, are top-6 players, and had 60+ point seasons. Both have also gotten much better during their time in the NHL and are RFAs.
