NHL Rumors: Surprising Update On Wild's Marco Rossi Trade Rumors
Despite weeks of speculation, Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin has made one thing clear: the team is not actively shopping Marco Rossi.
Bill Guerin: “We’re Not Trying to Trade Marco Rossi”
In interviews with The Hockey News, Sportsnet, and FOX9, Guerin addressed the trade rumors head-on, stating that the narrative suggesting the Wild are desperate to move the 23-year-old center is “not the case at all.” Rossi, who’s coming off a breakout 60-point season, remains unsigned as a restricted free agent, but Guerin emphasized the team values him highly and wants him to remain part of their current core.
The #mnwild continue to have plenty of suitors for Marco Rossi, but offers are all for future assets. MIN is holding firm on wanting it to be a hockey trade; ideally F of similar age in return.

Contract Stalemate, But No Urgency to Move Him
Negotiations with Rossi have stalled, and with July 1 fast approaching, the date when Rossi becomes eligible for offer sheets, questions around his future have only grown louder. But Guerin insists the issue is purely contractual, not personal.
“I like Marco. He’s a really good hockey player, but just like every player, you have to like them at the right price,” he said. Guerin also pushed back on reports suggesting that friction with the coaching staff or playoff usage had damaged the relationship. “We’re just trying to win. If someone’s feelings were hurt, that’s not my concern,” he added.

Trade Still Possible - But Only on Guerin’s Terms
While Guerin isn’t actively shopping Rossi, he did note that trade interest exists, but clarified that any deal would need to bring back NHL-ready talent. “We’re not rebuilding. We don’t want picks and prospects. We want to win now, and Marco helps us do that,” he said.
That price point, NHL impact players, not future assets, likely makes a trade unlikely. Still, with no contract signed and the deadline looming, other teams are watching closely. For now, Guerin says he’s in “no rush to do anything,” but if the stalemate continues, Minnesota could be forced into a tough decision.
