2 Vegas Golden Knights Offseason Trade Candidates
The Vegas Golden Knights are far from finished this summer. After landing the big fish in Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs, general manager Kelly McCrimmon is looking to make a couple more deals to put the Golden Knights in a better position financially heading into next season.
McCrimmon also has Jack Eichel's contract negotiations ongoing, as the fun never stops on the Vegas strip. After Nicolas Roy was shipped out for Marner, one-for-one thanks to Marner's pending free agency, here's two other Golden Knights who could be traded this offseason:
Ben Hutton
It's no secret Hutton is on the trade block. The 32-year-old is in the final season of his contract, making $975,000 and isn't in the cards for a spot among Vegas' top three pairs next season. Even with Alex Pietrangelo likely retiring, Hutton hasn't been consistent enough in his tenure in Vegas to warrant full-time duties. Expect to see him moved before training camp opens.
William Karlsson
This move would save the Golden Knights some serious money, but it would also leave a gaping hole down the middle of their ice. Karlsson is a second line center who may be pushed down to the third line in Vegas thanks to Tomas Hertl, so it could be in the best interest of the team to move Karlsson and his $5.9 million AAV, and settle for a cheaper, more defensive minded third-line centre. Karlsson owns a 10-team no-trade clause on his contract, which has two years remaining.
