3 Under-The-Radar Trades Candidate That Could Still Be Moved This Offseason
There are going to be more trades this offseason as some teams look to continue to alter their rosters for one reason or another. The dust is just starting to settle on free agency even though there are still plenty of useful players available, but teams close to the cap or wanting to give a player a change in scenery should still provide movement. Here are three players that aren't being talked about enough that may very well be on the move in the next couple of months.
Adam Henrique
The Edmonton Oilers are right at the salary cap and it has been rumored that Adam Henrique could still be on the move to free up more cap space. Henrique is slowing down, but has one year left on his deal at $3 million AAV with a full no-move clause which can make things tricky. He will have to accept a trade and he isn't in the same situation as Viktor Arvidsson was since Henrique stayed in the lineup. Isaac Howard may be acquired by the Oilers, and moving Henrique would open that roster spot and keep cap space available for in-season movement.
Ilya Lyubushkin
The Dallas Stars still need some more cap space and the two most obvious players to be moved off of are Ilya Lyubushkin and Matt Dumba. While the latter was presumed to be a buyout candidate and a trade hasn't formed yet, Lyubushkin is seeming like the easier trade candidate to move. He is a regular player for the Stars while Dumba wasn't and Lyubushkin has two years left on his deal at $3.25 million AAV. Especially if the Stars want Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames, Lyubushkin or Dumba have to be moved.
Joonas Korpisalo
The talk around the Boston Bruins is more directed at the average to sub-par additions made, not about goaltending. It is expected that Jeremy Swayman at least bounces back to a certain degree and he will remain the uncontested starter moving forward. Joonas Korpisalo wasn't silent about his frustrations with lack of playing time, even though he had slightly better numbers in some regards than Swayman. He isn't going to get more playing time without an injury to Swayman and if the Bruins move off of Korpisalo, Michael DiPietro is arguably ready for an NHL role after a great AHL season.
