Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman was first to report the news. Soderblom entered the offseason as a restricted free agent, and now will look to battle it out with Spencer Knight for the Blackhawks' starting goaltending spot next season.
Soderblom will count for 2.88% of the tam's cap in 2025-26, and his cap hit will be the 38th highest among NHL goaltenders. Last season was an up and down year for the young netminder, posting a 10-18-7 record, along with an .898 save percentage and -9.09 goals saved above expected.

Soderblom was an undrafted free-agent signing of the Blackhawks in 2021, as he was turning heads in Sweden. The Blackhawks have been busy this offseason, especially on the trade market as they've acquired Andre Burakovsky and Sam Lafferty via trade, and on the free agent market, their biggest move to this point was adding Dominic Toninato, and re-signing Ryan Donato.
