Interesting Team In West Giving Thought To Kyrou Trade With Blues
As it appears like Jordan Kyrou may still be a trade candidate for the St. Louis Blues this offseason or in the near future, there haven't been a shortage of teams showing interest in the star winger. A little while ago, there were rumors that a deal was being worked on between the Blues and Montreal Canadiens, but nothing has happened on that front regarding Kyrou yet.
While Kyrou remains in St. Louis for now, Elliotte Friedman said that the Seattle Kraken might have given some thought into Kyrou. Even though the Kraken have made a number of good moves to get more competitive, if they don't have to be done and the GM isn't satisfied yet, they could still be players this offseason.
The Kraken have over $11 million in cap space as it stands, so money isn't the issue for them to continue to upgrade. They also have strong prospects and a full team. The reason why the Blues seem to be considering trading Kyrou is because of the slew of young forwards coming in, and that's even after trading Zack Bolduc already. Frank Seravalli reported that the Blues are pretty motivated to move Kyrou.
The Blues are close to being serious contenders, but it may take a few years. If Kyrou is traded for less or for pieces that don't have the same impact right now, it definitely sets them back a little bit. Seattle was seconds away from advancing to the second round of the playoffs last season.
The Kraken are building something good themselves even though they are a little behind the Blues. With the jumps from the young players last season and the expected jumps next season, they could very well be right in the playoff race until the end. There is absolutely a top-6 spot for Kyrou on the Kraken if they can pull off a trade and it'll be interesting to see the value St. Louis has put on Kyrou ahead of a potential trade.
