Surprising Canadian Team Linked to Trade For Stars' Jason Robertson

There are two expiring contracts coming up next season that have inspired a boatload of talk this summer about potential trades. Indeed, the Dallas Stars' Jason Robertson and the Calgary Flames' Rasmus Andersson are on everyone's trade boards, sitting right at the top, in some cases.

Insider Frank Seravalli reported on Bleacher Report that Calgary has been keeping a keen eye on the Robertson situation in Dallas, and a one-for-one swap would be a juicy and intriguing outcome:

The Flames would love to get their hands, somehow, on Jason Robertson, I think in a deal that could involve Rasmus Andersson, which would be such a good fit. I've talked about this for a while.

Now that's a real hockey trade.

There has been some word that Andersson has talked about wanting to go to the Vegas Golden Knights when the Flames finally pull the trigger on moving him, but Seravalli doesn't see that as eliminating the Stars from working out a deal here.

"Has he let the Flames know that Vegas is a landing spot he's interested in? I think so," adds Seravalli, "but my understanding is that that list is not exclusive by any means, and I think that Dallas would make a ton of sense. That's the one place where the Dallas Stars are really struggling, I think, the right side of their defense."

With Ilya Lyubushkin and Nils Lundkvist following Miro Heiskanen on the right-D depth chart, Andersson would certainly be a huge upgrade.

As for the Flames, they are in need of a scoring boost in their top-six, and Robertson would be ideal. He finished this past season with 35 goals and 80 points, and has two 40-goal seasons in the past four years.
