Kraken Add To Big Offseason With Lindgren Signing

Ryan Lindgren, Colorado Avalanche

The Seattle Kraken just keep adding as they have dipped their toe into free agency and signed Ryan Lindgren to a four-year, $4.5 million AAV deal.

After adding Mason Marchment and Frederick Gaudreau already and the team sticking with Philipp Grubauer for next season as the backup, the only thing left was to upgrade the defense just a little further. Seattle signed Brandon Montour last summer, but addressed the left side with Lindgren.

The 27-year-old is a solid second pairing d-man who blocks shots, plays physically, and is solid defensively. He isn’t counted on to chip in offensively, but the pairings will now be interesting for the Kraken next season with Vince Dunn, Adam Larsson, Ryker Evans, Montour, and Jamie Oleksiak. The Kraken are absolutely doing what they can to upgrade and Lindgren solidifies that defense to arguably make it a top-10 in the league.

Lindgren kills penalties and has played 19-20 minutes per game throughout his career. With how the defense in Seattle looks, I expect his role to be reduced a little bit and possibly play more of a shutdown/penalty killing role. The depth is great so that if there are injuries again, it won’t derail the season for the Kraken.

I think this should wrap Seattle’s offseason up nicely as they are deep at forward and defense as well as having Joey Daccord as their starter.
