Done Deal: Rangers Sign & Trade K’Andre Miller to Metro Division Rival

The New York Rangers, just moments after signing top free agent defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov, have shipped out restricted free agent D-man K’Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes in a sign & trade.

Miller lands a huge 8-year, $60M deal from the Hurricanes, a $7.5 million AAV.

In return, the Rangers receive a conditional 2026 first-round pick (top-10 protected), a 2026 second-rounder and defenseman Scott Morrow.

Miller is a big defenseman with enticing top-four talent, a strong skater with puck carrying skills, passing ability and a long reach on the defensive end. He fits ideally with what Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky is trying to build on his back end with mobile blue liners, able to carry the puck.

Let's just say, if they can take the occasional lapse on the defensive end, Hurricanes fans will be happy with their new addition.

In his five seasons in Manhattan, Miller has averaged over 21 minutes per game, and has flashed his offensive potential with a 43-point season in 2022-23, though he had a tough year with the Rangers this past season (reflective of the team as a whole), with just 27 points. He regularly hands out well over 100 hits and blocks over 100 shots with his 6'5" frame.
