2 x $1.85M AAV
The Jets have plenty of money to spend this offseason and didn't make any big moves despite losing Nikolaj Ehlers. Since the team did sign Jonathan Toews, Gustav Nyquist, Tanner Pearson, and Cole Koepke, Barron will likely remain as the fourth line center and play around 11-12 minutes per game. If he gets that much ice time per game throughout next season, he should improve and put up some better numbers than the eight goals and 15 points last season.
The big 26-year-old center might just be at the best he will get as a fourth line center in the NHL. The Jets have two years to see and it isn't a burden at all to have signed him for under $2 million AAV. The centers on the Jets are in question next season, so Barron might have to play a larger role.
Barron is going to be a UFA at the end of his deal, and considering the young talent on its way in Winnipeg, this might be the final two years with the Jets unless he provides value and won't cost too much next contract. His goals for % has been really good for the Jets these past two seasons, but the team has also been very good, which helps. Barron is physical, will kill penalties, and got a little better in the faceoff circle last season, so we'll wait and see where he goes from here.
