NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Seattle Kraken Who Could Be Traded Next Season
The Seattle Kraken are going to be in tough to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season. They've had an interesting offseason this summer and it's not out of the realm of possibilities they'll become sellers ahead of next season's trade deadline.
Looking ahead to the 2025-26 campaign, let's zone in on three Kraken who are likely prime trade candidates for next year:
Jared McCann
McCann was a hot target all summer long but the Kraken decided to add and hold onto him. The team's leading scorer last season, McCann scored 22 goals and 61 points in 82 games. He's versatile to play either wing and can play down the middle in a pinch, and will surely be on the radar of contending teams next season. The 29-year-old has two years left on his deal at $5 million AAV, and owns a 10-team no-trade clause on his contract.
Mason Marchment
We'll see how long the Marchment experiment lasts in Seattle. The Dallas Stars dumped his salary onto the Kraken as they had their own internal business to take care of, and Marchment should play a much bigger role in Seattle this season. This could increase his trade value in a major way ahead of the deadline, and as a pending unrestricted free agent, who plays a pesky playoff style, there will be no shortage of interest, including from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Jordan Eberle
Much like Marchment, Eberle is a pending unrestricted free agent who is going to be a leader on the rental market if the Kraken struggle. He has full say in where he gets traded based on his contract, and a move back to Edmonton or to Long Island could be an interesting storyline to follow next season. Eberle is owed a reasonable $4.75 million AAV against the cap next season.
