Proposed Trade Sends Penguins' Rakell to Vancouver Canucks

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to be in sell mode, not only off the ice, but on as well. President Kyle Dubas has been busy these past couple of months, trying to reshape his roster for next season, and more importantly beyond.

The Penguins have an aging core, they have Evgeni Malkin on an expiring contract with no extension in site, and should the team once again struggle to start next season, expect to see a complete fire sale, with the likes of Erik Karlsson, Malkin, Bryan Rust, Ryan Graves, Tristan Jarry, Rickard Rakell, and even Sidney Crosby moved. Yes, a long shot, but it's all going to depend on their record, which will indicate how loud the noise will get in Pittsburgh.

Speaking of Rakell, The Score's Josh Wegman made a trade proposal between the Penguins, and Vancouver Canucks. With Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin in Vancouver, they are very familiar with most players on the Penguins roster, including Rakell.

If the Penguins can land a plug-and-play type forward in Hoglander, along with a 2026 first-round pick, in what's supposed to be a very deep draft, that should be considered a huge win. The Canucks are looking to stay relevant and contend in the Western Conference, as they know the future of captain Quinn Hughes depends on it.
