Hockey Insider Shuts Down Dallas Stars' Trade Rumor

The Dallas Stars have been in the middle of a lot of trade conversations over the course of the summer, and from all accounts the talks continue leading up to training camp in a couple of weeks. While the chatter may continue, don't expect to see leading scorer Jason Robertson dealt before the season starts, despite his name being tossed around in multiple trade scenarios this offseason.

According to Daily Faceoff's Jeff Marek, he feels the Stars have zero interest in trading away Robertson, and we all shouldn't expect to see any type of trade involving Robertson coming this season.

Robertson, 26, has one season left on his current deal at $7.75 million AAV. He's a pending restricted free agent, and throughout the offseason, was linked to a mega-deal with the Calgary Flames, or Montreal Canadiens, but from all accounts, at this point, doesn't sound like a move is coming.

The Stars added Mikko Rantanen and signed him long term, but there should still be some money to go around for Robertson, who scored 35 goals and 80 points in 82 games last season. Robertson will have to settle for around the same AAV if he wants to sign long term in Dallas, as they also have defenceman Thomas Harley who is in line for a contract extension, and the Stars aren't necessarily swimming in cap space.

There's certainly some trade candidates on their roster, but at this point, don't expect to see Robertson moved. Should he struggle out of the gate this season, the noise will rise as his future will becomes less certain in Big D.
