Update On Jack Eichel's Next Contract With Golden Knights

Jack Eichel, Vegas Golden Knights
There is a very high chance that the Vegas Golden Knights are able to keep Jack Eichel for presumably the rest of his career. According to Chris Johnston, Eichel's next deal will likely be in the $13-$14 million AAV range. Also, he and the team are comfortable with an eight-year deal.

The cap is going up and Eichel is the most important piece on the Golden Knights. There aren't many elite level centers as good as he is and he has done nothing but perform and help bring the team home a Stanley Cup.

Since being acquired by Vegas, Eichel has played 241 games and recorded 100 goals and 253 points during the regular season. He had the most impressive season of his 10-year career last season with 28 goals and 94 points, finishing third in Lady Byng voting as well as fifth place in Hart Trophy and Selke Trophy voting. In the playoffs, he has 10 goals and 43 points in 40 games.

Eichel currently has a $10 million AAV cap hit, so it isn't a huge bump in pay for the number one guy on the team. He is being paid less than the newly acquired and signed Mitch Marner, but that is going to change for the following season and the Golden Knights seem set on having these two lead them to many more playoffs and chances at Cups.

The Alex Pietrangelo situation opens up the space for the Golden Knights to be able to accommodate Eichel's next contract as well as continue to get better around the edges. Eichel is one of the big upcoming UFAs that we should be least worried about getting a new contract done with his current team. They appear to be on the same page and just working things out.
