Lane Hutson Feels Cole Caufield Should Make USA's Olympic Team

Get Cole Caufield into the Olympics is what seems to be on the top of Lane Hutson's mind.

The two Montreal Canadiens are certainly expected to be in the mix for the Olympic roster and if it was up to Hutson, Caufield would be a lock, and he'd quickly become someone who the team would rely on heavily to score in big moments.

"I think we saw it when (Team USA) went to OT versus Canada. They need someone to score, and in those big moments, that's something (Caufield) can bring," Hutson said after Caufield scored his second consecutive game-winning overtime goal Thursday, according to Sportsnet's Eric Engels.

Not only that, I think he generates so much at five-on-five, and he's a threat on the power play. I think when you give him some good players to play with, he makes them even better, and he shines through. Just the skill and the work ethic and the scoring threat that he is, I think he should be on that team.

Team USA has until Dec.31 to submit the final rosters for the tournament, so Caufield has some time to continue to impress their management team. He's off to a great start this season with five goals and seven points in five games this season.

Hutson is also in the mix to make the team and was recently added to their watch list after not being invited to the team's summer camp. The two together are giving Canadiens' fans a ton to cheer about this season, which is looking like one in which Montreal is going to be put back on the map in the hockey world.
