NHL News: Ducks Sign Jackson LaCombe To Massive Extension
The Anaheim Ducks have made a major move, as they have signed defenseman Jackson LaCombe to an eight-year, $72 million contract extension. Starting during the 2026-27 season, LaCombe will have a $9 million average annual value.
With this move, LaCombe is now the highest-paid player in the history of the Ducks, as reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Another big deal: the Ducks are making Jackson LaCombe the highest-paid player in franchise history. An 8x$9M AAV extension for the talented young defenceman.

Ryan Getzlaf, Paul Kariya and Corey Perry had higher AAVs, but this is the most in total dollars. https://t.co/bKnbwzPsyH
LaCombe landing this huge contract extension comes after the 2019 second-round pick broke out in a big way for the Ducks this past season. In 75 games with the Ducks in 2024-25, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota native recorded new career highs with 14 goals, 29 assists, 43 points, and 69 hits. This was after the 6-foot-2 defenseman recorded two goals, 15 assists, 17 points, and 129 blocks in 71 games during the 2023-24 season with the Ducks.
With this move, it is clear that the Ducks value LaCombe's contributions tremendously. He is now set to be a major part of the Ducks' core for the next several years and will be looking to continue to trend in the right direction with his play from here. There is no question that he impressed this past season, and it will be interesting to see what kind of season in 2025-26 with the Ducks after landing this massive new contract extension.
