NHL News: Panthers Claim Donovan Sebrango From Senators

The Florida Panthers have made a move, as they have claimed defenseman Donovan Sebrango off of waivers from the Ottawa Senators.

Given the Panthers' injury trouble right now, it is understandable that they are adding to their defensive depth by claiming Sebrango. With this, Sebrango will now provide them with another option to work with for their bottom pairing.

Sebrango has played in two games this season with the Senators, where he has recorded zero points, one hit, five penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating. This is after the 23-year-old defenseman posted zero points and a minus-1 rating in his first two career NHL games this past season with the Senators.

Sebrango spent most of this past season down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Belleville Senators. In 50 games with the AHL squad on the year, the 6-foot-2 defenseman recorded eight goals, 12 assists, 20 points, 79 penalty minutes, and a minus-4 rating.

Overall, there is no harm in the Panthers taking a chance on a young defenseman like Sebrango with this waiver claim. It will be interesting to see how the 2020 third-round pick performs for the reigning Stanley Cup champs after being claimed by them from here.
