NHL Rumors: 2 Islanders Trade Candidates If Season Goes South
The New York Islanders lost to the Winnipeg Jets by a 5-2 final score on Oct. 13. With this, they have started the 2025-26 season with three straight losses and are still looking for their first win.
If the Islanders do not bounce back from their early-season struggles and end up being in the bottom portion of the NHL standings near the trade deadline, they very well could be sellers this year. Because of this, let's go over three Islanders who could get traded if their season goes south.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Pageau was a very popular name in the rumor mill during this past season and this summer. While the Islanders have yet to trade him, that could change if the Islanders are out of the playoff race once we get closer to the deadline. This is especially so when noting that he is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) and could get them a decent return in a potential move.
Anders Lee
Like Pageau, Lee is a pending UFA who could be made available once the deadline gets closer. With Lee being the Islanders' captain, it would be a significant move if they traded him. However, if he still does not have an extension by the deadline and the Islanders are below the playoff line, the possibility of Lee getting dealt should not be ruled out.
