NHL Rumors: 3 Trade Destinations For Sharks' Alexander Wennberg

Alex Wennberg, Sharks

The San Jose Sharks are still in the middle of their rebuild and are expected to be sellers yet again this season because of it. When looking at their roster, one player who stands out as a prime trade candidate is pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) forward Alexander Wennberg.

Due to this, let's look at three teams who could target Wennberg this season if he is made available.

New York Rangers

A reunion between the Rangers and Wennberg could make sense for the right price. If the Rangers acquired him, he would offer them another solid center to work with in their top nine. Furthermore, he would give them another clear option to work with on their penalty kill if brought back in.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche could be another team to watch if Wennberg becomes available. When looking at their roster, it is fair to argue that they could use another two-way center for their bottom six. Wennberg could slot nicely as their third-line center if acquired by the Central Division club.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals would also make sense as a landing spot for Wennberg this season. If they brought him, he would give them another solid veteran for their bottom six and penalty kill. Thus, Wennberg could end up being a nice fit on a Capitals club with high expectations for this season.
