NHL Rumors: Logan Cooley Turns Down Massive Offer From Mammoth
After being the 3rd overall selection of the 2022 NHL Draft, Logan Cooley has immediately become a star for the Utah Mammoth franchise. Two 20+ goal seasons, with a career-high 25 times finding the net and 65 points last year.
But heading into the final year of his entry-level deal, an extension is in order. Utah would like to get him locked up before their season starts. According to insider Frank Servalli, however, the Cooley camp is driving a hard bargain.
Sources: @utahmammoth made a push to get rising star Logan Cooley extended before start of the season, but his camp turned down an 8-year deal worth nearly $77 million (8 years x $9.6 million).

Seravalli reports that Cooley has turned down a 'mammoth' eight-year deal worth $77 million, with a $9.6 million AAV.
The 21-year-old is clearly the franchise cornerstone if he continues on this pace, but just how high will the Mammoth be willing to go to lock him up at this point?
Seravalli says Cooley has to be very careful here:
"As tough as it might be to turn down the gratification of never having to worry about money again, it won't be that long, whether it's two or three years, before $9.6M starts to look like a real bargain... (The Cooley camp) wants to guard against that."
All in all, the insider doesn't think a deal will get done in time for the season opener.
The Mammoth have added JJ Peterka for this season, and will have (hopefully) a healthy defense corps this year, and could be poised to make the playoffs.
