Vancouver Canucks: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction Of 2025 NHL Offseason

The NHL season is just about here, which is undoubtedly exciting news for hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHL Trade Rumors will be starting a series looking at each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the 2025 NHL off-season.

In this latest edition of the series, let's focus on the Vancouver Canucks.

Best Addition: Evander Kane

The Canucks made a notable move this summer when they acquired Kane from the Edmonton Oilers. The 34-year-old forward is now expected to be a key part of their top six and power play as they look to bounce back in 2025-26. In 21 playoff games for the Oilers this past spring, the 2009 fourth-overall pick recorded six goals, 12 points, and a plus-4 rating.

Worst Subtraction: Pius Suter

The Canucks lost a solid part of their forward group this summer, as Pius Suter signed a two-year contract with the St. Louis Blues in free agency. Suter is a player who the Canucks will miss, as he is a solid two-way forward who plays multiple positions and contributes good secondary scoring. In 81 games last season with the Canucks, he set new career highs with 25 goals and 46 points.
