3 Potential Trade Destinations for Flyers' Owen Tippett

The Philadelphia Flyers are a team to watch for an early season trade, as forward Owen Tippett's name has hit the trade rumor mill. Several reports have surfaced stating they could see Tippett being moved by the Flyers, as this is the final year of his contract in which he doesn't hold any trade protection.

Tippett is off to a so-so start, scoring five goals and one assist in his first 13 games. He's owed $6.2 million through the 2032 season, and considering the cap is going way up the next few years, could be a steal of a contract if he's able to score 30 goals per year consistently.

Here's three teams to keep an eye on as potential trade destinations:

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs are in the market for a top-six forward and could use another right winger to add to their group. Losing Mitch Marner has hurt a ton and it's obviously impacted their group this season. There's also the secondary scoring issue that became more paramount in the playoffs, so Tippett could help in that department as well. The Leafs and Flyers have made some deals together recently, perhaps Tippett is involved in the next one.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings are off to an impressive start to the year and GM Steve Yzerman will be looking to add to his group before this season's deadline. Last year, he didn't, and was called out in the media by captain Dylan Larkin. Yzerman won't be sitting on his hands this season, and a guy like Tippett could be a perfect plug-and-play winger for their top six.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes are in the market for a lot of things, and an impact forward for the top of their lineup is one of them. They've long had issues scoring the big goal, and adding a sniper in Tippett could help finally push them over the hump. Don't be surprised if this trade does go down, the Flyers are also sending a defenceman in the deal.
