3 Potential Trade Destinations for Predators' Ryan O'Reilly

Ryan O'Reilly is having a tough go this season in Nashville, and with the Predators' struggles to find consistency, there's a good chance O'Reilly will be dealt at some point this season.

The veteran center was not shy after the Preds' recent loss, calling himself out for having a terrible night, mentioning that he feels he's only had one good season as an NHL pro, and putting a ton of the blame for the loss on his own shoulders. It showed a ton of character and accountability, but at the end of the day, it's the last thing GM Barry Trotz wants to see him who's supposed to be his number-one center. Trotz wants consistent offense and a strong two-way game, and O'Reilly hasn't been able to deliver.

The 34-year-old has one season left on his contract at $4.2 million AAV, he doesn't hold any trade protection, and so far through 16 games, O'Reilly's scored six goals and 10 points. Nashville sits 5-7-4 heading into Saturday's action, near the bottom of the Western Conference, and if things continue, Trotz is going to have a fire sale.

Here's three teams to keep an eye on for O'Reilly's next move:

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are in the market for a second-line center and O'Reilly could be the perfect fit. Although he doesn't have trade protection, Trotz has a ton of respect for him and his young family, so he'll be approached before any move is made, and it feels like Vancouver could be a place where O'Reilly would want to carry on his career from.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avs are going to add to their top six and bringing back O'Reilly could be the play. The familiarity could very well appeal to the veteran forward and his family, and another shot at winning the Stanley Cup never hurts. Keep an eye on the Avs, O'Reilly or Nazem Kadri could be throwing a reunion party.

Utah Mammoth

The Mammoth have a ton of cap space, draft picks, and prospects to dangle in trade talks. They have a strong team this season, and aggressive owner who wants to win it all, and a GM that hasn't been afraid to make a bold trade. Utah sits 9-5-0 on the year and comfortable third place in the their division, adding O'Reilly would give them a winner for the dressing room and a veteran the younger crowd could look up to. Seems like a great fit for both sides as well with it being a smaller market, and a beautiful place to live.
