5 Vancouver Canucks Trade Candidates

The Vancouver Canucks are in advanced trade talks, as GM Patrik Allvin, and president Jim Rutherford are looking to shake up the core of their team. The Canucks are open to moving out just about everyone, as they want to get younger, and re-tool on the fly.

While it's been mentioned by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman that Filip Hronek isn't likely being moved, here's five Canucks to keep an eye on as a trade is coming soon:

Jake DeBrusk

Look for the Canucks to approach several of their players with trade protection, DeBrusk being one of them. The speedy savvy winger is signed at $5.5 million AAV through the 2030-31 season, and until 2027-28, owns a full no-movement clause. The Boston Bruins are going to be interested, among several other teams. DeBrusk has posted eight goals and 12 points through his first 23 games this season.

Evander Kane

The veteran winger is a pending free agent at season's end, and is surely going to be on the radar of several contending teams. Kane isn't having a good season and isn't going to cost an arm and a leg to acquire, which will be interesting to watch, as perhaps the Edmonton Oilers circle back. Look for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Utah Mammoth all to have interest in Kane, as trade talks are heating up in Vancouver. 11 points through his first 23 games, making $5.1 million, and Kane has submitted a list of 16 teams he'd approve deals to.

Kiefer Sherwood

Speaking of free-agent forwards, Sherwood is surely to be moved. The 30-year-old is making just $1.5 million this season, he hits everything that moves, and so far through 23 games, Sherwood is leading the Canucks with 12 goals. His 17:43 of ice-time is a career high, and he's playing in all situations for Vancouver. Sherwood is going to be moved, and the Canucks are going to cash in at the perfect time.

Lukas Reichel

While Reichel is just 23 years old, it hasn't worked out at all for him on the Canucks. Reichel's making $1.2 million AAV, and is a pending restricted free agent. The Canucks recently acquired Reichel for a fourth-round pick, but are looking to move him out for another similar player, who is unproven, around the same age. Expect to see Reichel moved in the coming weeks.

Quinn Hughes

While Hughes might not be the priority, once talks starting picking up in Vancouver, everyone starting asking about Hughes. The shifty defenceman has one more season left on his contract at $7.8 million AAV, and does not own any trade protection. It's going to be interesting to see what team's are willing to spend on Hughes, considering he's very likely heading to free agency after next season to then sign with the New Jersey Devils. If a trade materializes with New Jersey, look for Simon Nemec, or Dawson Mercer to head to Vancouver.
