Alexandre Texier Signs With New Team After Contract Terminated
It took mere minutes for Alexandre Texier to find a new home after the St. Louis Blues terminated his contract. The 26-year-old center has signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Montreal Canadiens after clearing unconditional waivers earlier in the day and having his $2.1 million deal terminated.

This was the expected outcome for the native of France after the Blues decided to move on from him. The depth forward had been a healthy scratch in nine of the Blues' last 10 games, and hadn't played since Oct. 28. His 10:15 of average ice time is the lowest of his career.
After beginning his NHL career with three seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Texier left for a year to play in Switzerland, only to return to Columbus in 2023-24. He was finally able to stay healthy for a full season, and posted 12 goals and 18 assists in 78 games.
The Blues acquired him from the Jackets before last season, but he was back to a minimal role last season, playing only 31 games due to injuries and healthy scratches. He posted six goals and five assists for 11 points. In 240 regular-season games in his NHL career, he has registered 40 goals and 51 assists for 91 points in 14:20 average TOI.
Texier can play center or the wing. He was a second-round pick of Columbus in the 2017 NHL Draft.
He now goes from St. Louis to Martin St. Louis, and will help fill the Canadiens' need for a forward after a massive string of injuries has hit the team over the last month or so.
