Report: Penguins' Tristan Jarry Named Prime Trade Target for Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers need a new goaltender, and by the sounds of it, a trade could be coming in a matter of days, not weeks.

After the Oilers crumbled on Tuesday night, their superstars called out just about every aspect of the team, including their goaltenders, and admittedly the team hasn't helped them at all this season. Both Stuart Skinner and Cal Pickard are pending unrestricted free agents, and considering the results so far this season, it's become quite obvious the Oilers are looking at different short, and long-term solutions.

Hockey insider Kevin Weekes reported that the Oilers likely have interest in Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry. Jarry, 30, has two seasons left on his deal at $5.37 million AAV, and does own a 12-team no-trade list. As Weekes points out, Jarry is from Western Canada, and spent time in junior hockey playing right in Edmonton.

The Penguins haven't been shy that they are open for business, as Kyle Dubas would like to make his team younger, while staying competitive, as the Penguins have exceeded expectations so far this seasons. With Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov in the mix, along with Jarry, the Penguins have two capable goaltenders, and could move Jarry for either a top-nine forward, or top-four defenceman.

Watch out for something to materialize soon, as it sounds like the Oilers are getting serious with their offers, and one could be coming very soon to Dubas and the Penguins.
