NHL Rumors: Analyst Believes Brady Tkachuk Has His Eyes On Metro Team

Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk reacts during 2025 game.

Brady Tkachuk is not on the trade market, but that clearly hasn’t stopped speculation from bubbling up around the Ottawa Senators captain.

During a recent discussion, analyst Colby Cohen, speaking on Snow the Goalie: A Flyers Podcast, made a surprising statement, suggesting that if Tkachuk ever does leave Ottawa, the Philadelphia Flyers would be a team he would “seriously look at.”

Why the Flyers keep coming up with Brady Tkachuk

According to Cohen, the connection goes beyond hockey. He noted that Tkachuk spends a lot of time near the Jersey Shore in the offseason due to family ties, creating a natural geographic pull toward Philadelphia.

While Tkachuk has consistently reaffirmed his commitment to the Senators and his desire to win a Stanley Cup in Ottawa, Cohen insisted this is about long-term scenarios, not an imminent exit.

Cohen said:

“People get all frustrated every time this comes up. The Flyers will be a team, when the day comes when Brady Tkachuk has opportunities to go places, the Flyers will be a team that he will seriously look at, OK, when that day comes… My understanding is is he spends a good amount of time somewhere around the Jersey Shore in the summer due to new family connections for him.”

Tkachuk is under contract through the 2027–28 season, and unless the Senators stall badly in their rebuild, nothing is expected to change soon.

What would have to go wrong in Ottawa

This rumor only gains traction if Ottawa fails to take a meaningful step forward over the next few seasons. The Senators have struggled for consistency, and recent stretches where they’ve oddly performed better without Tkachuk in the lineup have fueled uncomfortable narratives.

Still, teammates and coaches have obviously pushed back strongly against the idea that Tkachuk is the problem. If playoff success continues to elude Ottawa as Tkachuk nears the back half of his deal, questions about his future could grow louder, similar to the current speculation surrounding other star players around the league.
